"The combination of his 26 year award-winning high school teaching career, his remarkable insight as an experienced
auctioneer, and his honesty made the class one of the best adult educational experiences I've ever had," stated recent
New York Auctioneer School graduate Jeff Burr of Belfast, New York. "Scott's expertise and integreity in the field
is unparalleled. The class was informative, as well as fun. The chance at the end of the school to actually sell
to a live auction crowd was cool, and Scott prepped us well for it. His offer to come to my first solo auction to help
me out at no charge was a great bonus. This is a very impressive school; one where the tuition can be made back
30 minutes into my first auction. Heck, just by listening to Scott's tips on advertising alone will save me $1,000 on
my first auction; money that I would have easily and unknowingly wasted. What a great value, what a great
experience."
Class sizes are limited to 6 students. Tuition is $890 per student. There is
a $100 total discount for a husband-wife or parent-son/daughter team. All facets of the auction business are covered
including DBA, insurance, overhead, paperwork, sales tax, quarterly filing, exemptions, gun sales, settlements, contracts,
commission, advertising, employees, financial and knowledge resources, appraising, lotting, presentation, internet, scribbing,
clerking, equipment, auction law, and of course lots of bid calling. Guest expert lectures are part of the school.
Note that New York State does not require licensing to become an auctioneer, but you'd be foolish to try it without the class;
you could easily find yourself in the middle of a lawsuit. All state laws auctioneers must follow and abide by are taught
and discussed. Graduates receive a New York Auctioneer School Certificate of Completion.
